Printed by Cheng Chung Book Company (正中书局) in 1947, this Civics and Morals textbook was used by upper secondary students in Singapore’s Chinese-medium schools. The textbook introduces the writings of early Chinese philosophers such Confucius and Mencius and invites students to think about the concepts of morality, judgement and idealism.Set up in 1931 in Nanjiang, Cheng Chung Book Company focused on writing and publishing textbooks. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, the company moved its operations to Taiwan and is still in existence today.
