Seiko ladies’ watch in gold

This watch by the brand Seiko is what is an example of its rainbow line, which were were marketed to women. It came in seven different styles and had a variety of colour options for its dials. In the 1970s, Seiko was one of the most popular medium price ranged watches for women. This watch dates to August 1976, during a decade when more women were working. The watch was both a practical and aesthetic accessory for the working woman. This watch belonged to Sin Mee Kuen, a mandarin teacher in Nan Hua Girls’ School. She would wear it to keep time during her lessons, paired with a cheongsam and heeled shoes.
