Gift of Rapheal Koh in memory of his grandfather

Koh Keng Bock (1881-1946) joined the Malacca Volunteer Corps in 1915. He rose through the ranks and was appointed Captain. In 1931, he was made a Member of the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King George V. Koh was a businessman and justice of peace, and he served in various positions in the Straits Chinese British Association (Malacca branch), Malacca Chinese Benevolent Society, and Chinese Malacca Club. This painting was executed by Low Kway Song (1889-1982), a pioneering Peranakan artist who painted portraits of many prominent personalities in Singapore and Malaysia.
