This photograph of poet, musician and publisher Koh Hoon Teck depicts him seated at his residence, probably observing a performance by the Gunong Sayang Association (GSA). The GSA was a musical and theatrical organization founded by Koh in 1910, and is one of the oldest Peranakan organizations still in existence today. Koh Hoon Teck was very musical and he played the violin. In his youth, was also one of four key members of the Cornwall Minstrels formed in 1904. Koh was also founder of his company, Koh & Co. in 1905 which sold books, stationary, rubber stamp markers, printers, gramophone records, and coloured postcards of scenes of Singapore.
