This silk cheongsam is decorated with light pink and gold motifs printed across its body. The hem, collar and armholes are outlined with gold trimmings. The cheongsam is a form-fitting Chinese dress, which was worn by Peranakan women from the 1920s, following international fashions in Shanghai. They were favoured for special occasions like weddings and socialising outside the Peranakan home. This cheongsam belonged to Mdm Ong Siew Choo (1930-2012), a homemaker.
