This light pink cheongsam is patterned with clusters of printed red, purple and yellow bouquets, comprising of roses and carnations. The hem, collar, and arm holes are embellished with gold trimmings. The cheongsam is a form-fitting Chinese dress, which was worn by Peranakan women from the 1920s, following international fashions in Shanghai. They were favoured for special occasions like weddings and socialising outside the Peranakan home. This cheongsam belonged to Mdm Ong Siew Choo (1930-2012), a homemaker.
