This brown kamcheng with pink ogival panels is unusual for its colour and the shape of its lid. A phoenix and peony decorate the pink ogival panel. Many kamcheng with ogival panels on their body would also have corresponding panels on their lids, but due to the relatively flat nature of the lid on this piece, ogivals are absent from the lid. Kamchengs are a type of covered container used for storing and serving food. Blue and white versions serve more utilitarian purposes and were sued more widely by communities in China and Southeast Asia.
