Born in Singapore in 1946, Chong Fahcheong is a prominent sculptor known for his wood carvings and public commissions. He was featured in the 1991 Sculpture in Singapore exhibition at the National Museum Art Gallery. This is a recent work which shows continuity in his artistic practice, bringing together two aspects from earlier works: the technique of carving across several planks of wood, and the form of gateways.
