Emily of Emerald Hill - Margaret Chan fundraising programme

This is a 1986 fundraising performance by Dr Margaret Chan of the play, Emily of Emerald Hill. This performance was sponsored by Shell Petroleum company and was aimed at raising funds for Dr Chan and a theatre crew to represent Singapore at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 1986, after the festival invited them to perform. This became Singapore’s first play to be invited to join an international arts festival. Stella Kon is an award-winning Singapore playwright whose most important work was the 1983 one-woman play, Emily of Emerald Hill. She is also a descendent of two prominent Peranakan philanthropists, Tan Tock Seng and Dr Lim Boon Keng.
