Emily of Emerald Hill - Neo Swee Lin programme

This is the programme of a production of Emily of Emerald Hill in 1996 by well-known Singapore actress Neo Swee Lin. This performance was held at the auditorium of the Singapore Chinese Girls School, an institution set up by pioneering Peranakans who wanted to establish schools for girls at the turn of the 20th century. The cover art for the programme is an image of a watercolour painting by renowned Peranakan artist, Martin Loh. Stella Kon is an award-winning Singapore playwright whose most important work was the 1983 one-woman play, Emily of Emerald Hill. She is also a descendent of two prominent Peranakan philanthropists, Tan Tock Seng and Dr Lim Boon Keng.
