This is a portrait of Mrs. Benjamin Henry Sheares (nee Yeo She Geok), a trained midwife who married Dr. Benjamin Henry Sheares in 1939. She became First Lady when her husband was appointed as the second President of the Republic of Singapore (1971-1981).
