This black velvet cape belonged to Mrs Kwok Swee Ying. This short cape is dated to the second half of the 1940s and was probably purchased in Hong Kong. She was on her way to Australia where her banker husband Mr Alfred Kwok Chan Kwan, was posted to. The cape is made of velvet and is fastened with two buttons at the collar. The lining is made of silk and the label “Mow Kie” is sewn on the inside of the collar. This type of cape is usually worn over an evening dress.
