This elaborate headdress is wrapped in velvet and is embelished with gold sheet repoussé decoration. It is a distinctive part of the traditional clothing worn by women in Lampung.Located on the southern tip of the island of Sumatra, Lampung was a wealthy region as it had gold deposits and was a major exporter of pepper. Like other areas, it also had the tradition of making and using high quality ceremonial objects with ancient motifs.
