The six elongated panels on these hexagonal jars are filled with underglaze blue designs of chrysanthemums and peonies. Chrysanthemum is associated with autumn and is a symbol of longevity. The peony, regarded by the Chinese as the 'King of Flowers', is associated with spring, and symbolises rank and wealth.imperial kilns.Transitional-period porcelain wares were produced in the wake of the collapse of the imperial kilns when domestic interest in literary subjects were growing and private kilns were customising their wares for new markets.
