A pair of mounted blue jars

The objects combine Asian and European objects of high quality. The blue porcelain jars are a specialized type of ware called powder blue which was perfected in the Qianlong reign; they have an elegant, undulating profile. The elaborate gilded bronze mounts, which show dragons, were produced in France during the reign of Louis XV.This pair of vessels demonstrates the high regard for fine Chinese porcelain at the European courts.
