This turquoise-glazed jar has an elegant tall neck incised with bands, and a pair of strap handles. The bulbous body is also decorated with prominent vertical combed patterns.Green or turquoise glazed jars were used in the Middle East for the storage and transportation of food products and wine, and have been found in large numbers at archaeological sites from Africa to Southeast Asia, China and Japan. They were probably used along the overland trade networks of Central Asia.
