This is the petition of Zenolabdeen bin Mahomed Lebbay of Singapore to the Court of Judicature of Prince of Wales’ Island, Singapore, and Malacca, concerning the goods of Junoos Bin Mahomed Lebbay, who died in Singapore on or about 16 September 1844. He made and published his last will and testament on 12 December 1844, in which he named Zenolabdeen (who was his brother) the executor of his will.He was required to compile and inventory of all the effects of the deceased, which was to be submitted to the court on or before 13 March of the following year. He was also required to provide a full account of his administration to the court on or before 13 April of the following year.This document is part of the John Koh collection which comprises of various legal documents in Arabic, Jawi, and English, and serves as a record of the 19th and early 20th century colonial legal systems in Singapore and the interactions of various ordinary individuals with the law.
