This is a hand-made booklet presented to Mr. Brisk by his fellow internees for his services in repairing their watches and clocks throughout the internment period. It contains the signatures of prominent civilian internees, among them Lady Shenton Thomas, wife of the British colonial Governor. The booklet captures the mood of daily life in Changi Jail and shows that such activities provided the internees with a much-needed sense of the passage of time during their imprisonment.
