The membership certificate shown forms part of the secret society paraphernalia found in the William Stirling Collection. William George Stirling was the Assistant Protector of Chinese in Singapore from 1921 to 1931. The certificate, according to Stirling, was issued by a branch of the Hung society. The octagonal diagram shown is a unique feature of the certificate, although its significance is not known.
