While the tombs of the aristocracy and royalty of the Western Han were lavishly stocked with luxury items, the wealthier families of Easter Han had more modest replicas of the essentials of everyday life for their after-life. These funerary objects were often made predominantly of clay. Pottery towers were a common tomb object found during this time.
