These models of native houses formed part of the ethnological collection at the Raffles Library and Museum, which also contained various displays of Malayan, Javanese and Dayak weaponry such as spears and kris. Ethnology aside, the institution specialised in the fields of zoology, botany, geology and numismatics as well.
