Ethnology was one of the fields the Raffles Library and Museum specialised in, which also included zoology, botany, geology and numismatics. The museum's ethnological collection contained various displays of Malayan, Javanese and Dayak weaponry such as spears and kris, as well as models of native houses and native craft.
