Keris boards are usually decorated with ‘wayang kulit’ (shadow puppet) figures and floral motifs. Traditionally, the keris is hung on the keris board when it is not worn. The keris board hangs on the wall of the Krobongan, the sacred room at the back portion of a Javanese traditional house. It is said that the power of the keris is most active when placed vertically thus it is hung high for protective purposes.
