This beaded basket or bag was probably made by either the Kayan or the Kenyah people of Borneo who are known for their beadwork. Originally, the basket would have had a drawstring to cinch up the top. It is decorated with highly stylised Aso figures, a type of guardian spirit associated with dragons and the earth.
