Figure of monk

This is a wooden figure of a life-sized young novice. He holds his hands in the gesture of paying respect. Dressed in a simple robe, he has a look of piety on his face. The figure stands on a low platform with Burmese inscription. Life-sized figures such as these are usually placed alongside the image of the Buddha. They could also be found in temples or monasteries or used as decoration for grand buildings.
