This seated Da Mo (or Bodhidharma) figure, the Indian monk who founded Chan Buddhism in China, has a bluish glaze compared to the greenish tone of the others in the group (see 2000-03431). The finely incised stern expression and penetrating gaze is typical of the Dehua potter's concern for quality regardless of size.
