Two Boats by the Stream

Born in 1936, Thomas Yeo graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1960. He then studied in Chelsea School of Art and Hammersmith College of Art and Architecture in London. Since then, Yeo has participated in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions and in 1984, he was awarded the Cultural Medallion. In Two Boats by the Stream, Yeo achieves balance with the trees on the banks on either side of the artwork. Yeo presents to the viewers an overall sense of tranquillity through the use of mainly cool colours. Yet not all is calm. This tranquillity is also disturbed as the viewer senses the strength of water gushing through the inlet and the slight movements of the two boats on the right side of the stream.
