This is a short letter from the office of the Colonial Secretary of the Straits Settlements, Sir John Frederick Dickson, to the Secretary of the Raffles Library and Museum, William Ruxton Davison. Davison also served concurrently as the director and curator of the Raffles Library and Museum from 1887 until his death in 1893. This letter concerns the recent discovery by the Colonial Secretary’s Office of a proclamation written by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1823 among old treasury records. They have also requested for the proclamation to be exhibited in the Raffles Library and Museum.
