Baby-carrier

This pink cotton Hmong baby-carrier is made of two rectangular pieces of cloth joined together at the borders. Resembling an apron, it features geometric batik designs decorated with embroidery and a batik centre panel. The pink wool pompoms arranged to form two crosses probably served as a protective talisman against evil spirits.Originally highlanders from China, the Hmong recently have begun to move into northern areas of Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.
