This work is a marquette of the large public sculpture Edhi Sunarso made in Jakarta commemorating the movement for the freedom of West Irian. The original public sculpture is a bronze statue that commemorates the freedom of Irian Jaya (West Irian or now named as Papua) from Dutch occupation in 1963. This work marks the social and political tensions between the peoples of West Irian Jaya and the nationalism of Indonesia.
