Mount Vesuvius is a volcano located on the south western coast of Italy. It is best known for its eruption that destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii in AD 79. This photograph belongs to an album entitled "Singapore 1905-1906" tracing travellers' journey from Switzerland through the Straits Settlements and back to the Indian Ocean.
