This large jar has a slightly everted mouth, a globular body and tall foot. It is covered in red and white pigment-painted decoration, which includes geometric patterns and scroll motifs arranged in bands around the neck and body. The jar served as a burial ware or ‘mingqi’. The practice of burying objects with the deceased stems from the belief in life after death.
