This large bowl is evenly potted and covered with an ivory toned glaze. The unusual design includes incised decoration in the form of lotus petals around the exterior and floral decoration on the interior. The appearance of the lotus on many white-glazed wares during the Ly dynasty (1009-1225) reflects the rising importance of Buddhism, which became the state religion in Vietnam at this time.
