This highly ornamented bowl has both embossed and engraved decorations consisting of a central design surrounded by inscriptions and floral motifs. A sheet of silver was formed in the shape of the bowl and then hammered and punched from the inside to create floral patterns. During the embossing process, the decorations appear in raised relief on the outer surface of the bowl. The craftsmen used a sharp tool to engrave line decoration onto the surface of the bowl to further accentuate the motifs. It was probably used as a finger bowl for washing fingers after eating.
