The Story of Holi

Known widely as the Festival of Colours, Holi is a popular Hindu festival celebrated in north and central India, to mark the arrival of spring. In Singapore the festival started as a small-scale celebration in the 19th and early 20th centuries, but has gained popularity in recent years. This monograph explores the early observance of Holi, and its transformation over the years to an exuberant and large-scale festival in Singapore’s multi-cultural landscape.
