Description

Step into the past and explore the architectural marvels of Katong–Joo Chiat in a captivating journey through the area's rich history, distinctive culture, and iconic landmarks. Hear from National Heritage Board’s Heritage Action Node (HAN) Champions as they share fascinating stories behind historic architectural gems, including the Peranakan shophouses along Koon Seng Road, the Red House Bakery, and the former Joo Chiat Police Station.

As part of Singapore Archifest 2025’s SGAF+, participants of this tour will also experience the ARCHIPavilion, developed by SGAF festival team RT&Q Architects. The installation takes the festival's logo and presents it as a three-dimensional structure, a visual landmark and flexible platform for local artists and community members to express their creativity. The ARCHIPavilion brings architecture to life, making it engaging and accessible for all. The tour will culminate in an exclusive home visit.

The meeting point is at the Koon Seng Road Peranakan Houses (between the houses and Cafe Wabi Sabi).
