This invitation card issued by the Chinese Restaurant, Tai Thong Restaurant (Da Tong Leng Qi Jiu Lou大同酒楼), contains a complimentary ticket to the Gay World amusement park (Fan Hua Shi Jie繁华世界) . Tai Thong Restaurant was one of the dining establishments located inside Gay World Amusement Park, which operated from 1937 to 2000. It was formerly known as Happy World (Kuai Le Shi Jie 快乐世界) before the Eng Wah Organisation took over its operations and renamed it Gay World Amusement Park. The 5-digit telephone numbers listed on the card indicate that the restaurant was in operation from at least the 1960s, when 5-digit numbers were introduced for fixed telephone lines. The dragon and phoenix motifs on the card are seen as symbols of harmony and auspiciousness by the Chinese community.
