Opened in 2012, Gardens by the Bay currently advertises itself as Singapore’s “national garden and premier horticultural attraction for local and international visitors”. It seeks to present the plant kingdom in novel ways through a fusion of nature, architecture, and technology. One of the key features of the Gardens, and one of the most photographed sights of Singapore today, is the Supertree Grove. Standing at a height of up to 50 metres above ground, the Supertrees are sustainable vertical gardens housing more than 160,000 plants of over 200 species. The trees come alive nightly in a light-and-sound show called the Garden Rhapsody.
