This Singer Graflex 16mm film projector was purchased by the donor's family in the late 1960s to screen home movies commissioned by the family to document important events, such as birthdays and anniversaries.Graflex was a manufacturer of cameras and optical devices, which was sold to the Singer Corporation in 1968, with devices made under the Singer-Graflex brand. Projectors such as these were important media devices used before the widespread use of VHS tapes for home movies; the screening of films on these relatively more portable models were popular occasions for family and community gatherings.
