Designed by the founder of Tatsumura Seishokujo in Nishijin, Kyoto, this obi depicts a dense pattern of aristocratic figures. The maru obi is the most formal of obi. It features patterning on both sides and is almost always woven with gold and/or silver threads. They are almost obsolete, and are rarely worn today except by some brides and maiko.
