This kimono is made from Khersonese silk, a brand name for a silk woven in Singapore between 1969 and the early 1970s. The name is derived from a classical term for Southeast Asia, the 'Golden Khersonese'. This kimono was designed by Mrs Patricia Mary Meadows, wife of Singapore Tourist Promotion Board Chairman Mr P H Meadows, and was intended for sale on a small scale in the UK.
