Ba Nyan is remembered as one of the foremost painter of modern painting in Myanmar. In this work, he combines realistic and impressionistic visual language in this painting to achieve an effect similar to watercolour, a medium he also excelled, without sacrificing the impasto and bold expressions only possible by oil paint. The work is notable for its compositional experimentation— placing the passage-way of a temple as the central focal point instead of the main temple structure as commonly seen in other works by Burmese modern artists from the early to mid 20th century. The passage-way, represented in a subtle colour gradation to capture the effect of the reflection of light, occupies a large section of the painting, while the water carriers in bright green at the bottom right corner accentuate and frame the overall composition.
