This covered box has a lotus bud knobbed lid and a high waisted foot, and is decorated lattice patterns and vegetal scroll designs. Covered boxes were one of the most representative type of Sawankhalok wares produced. Large quantities of ceramics were made at Sukhothai and Sawankhalok kilns for export to Southeast Asia and beyond during the 14th to 16th centuries.
