Donated by the family of the late Robert Choong Kim Siew
This secondary school leaving certificate belongs to Choong Kim Siew, a Leading Seaman with the Royal Malaysian Navy. It was issued to him upon leaving school in 1957 and notes that the reason for his departure is to join the 'Royal Malayan Navy, Singapore'. At the time, Choong was 17 years of age and eligible to serve. The school leaving certificate also lists his earlier educational background at St Xavier’s Branch School in Penang, part of the Catholic Lasallian family of schools throughout Asia that includes St Joseph’s Institution (SJI) in Singapore.
