While establishing the British trading settlement on Singapore in 1819, Raffles was concurrently Lieutenant-Governor of Bencoolen in Sumatra. This is a Dutch translation of the rarest of Malay grammar books, based on the work of the Baptist missionary William Robinson and dedicated to Raffles.
