Torques such as this rare ornate example would have been worn by male performers. This sheet gold torque is composed of five sections and isdecorated with wire-work. A gradual arrangement of hemispherical shapes has been hollowed from the inside. This design is also reminiscent of thenettipattam or elephant caparison crafted in Kerala.
