The Tang Shipwreck was acquired through the generous donation of the Estate of Khoo Teck Puat.
Nearly 200 pieces of white wares decorated with green splashes were recovered from the wreck. Most of these wares were covered with white slip (liquid clay), before translucent and copper-based glazes were applied on them to produce the decoration. This delightful ewer, unique among the cargo, shows the imagination of Chinese potters. The handle moulded as a curious feline and the dragon’s head spout animate the simple vessel.
