This night-time view of the city centre was probably taken from the Ministry of National Development building at Maxwell Road, which was completed and occupied by the Ministry in 1970. The shophouses (left) were located on the site between Telok Ayer Street and Robinson Road. In the distance were the imposing skyscrapers along Shenton Way, which included the 50-storey Development Bank of Singapore building (right background) that was completed in 1974.
