Located along South Bridge Road in the Chinatown area, Jamae Mosque was built between 1826 and 1835 and the its architecture is characterised by the distinct twin towers. Just a few steps down the street lies the tower-like 'gopuram' of Sri Mariamman Temple. This temple was established in the early 19th century by Naraina Pillai, a government clerk from Penang who came to Singapore with Raffles.
