This shard was previously part of a lid of Dehua porcelain ware. It is decorated with faint moulded geometric designs and has a white glaze. Dehua porcelain is better known in the West as blanc-de-chine porcelain, which rose to international significance around the 17th century. Its popularity at home and abroad continued and the kilns at Dehua remain prolific to this day.
